Metroid: HoU: The Sprite Upgrade

"The Sprite upgrade." Samus said, selecting the upgrade from the machine. The Golem upgrade looked useful, but not enough to justify her suit being converted into the material needed to give her that form. So she had decided to try another zero suit upgrade, and one with a more ambiguous title. She took the chip from the machine and inserted it into her zero suit, waiting for the upgrade to apply.

After a minute of waiting, Samus realised that nothing had happened. She supposed it might be defective, and walked back over to the computer to remove the upgrade. She placed her hands onto the keyboard, only to find that her hands hit the wall rather than the keyboard, which was odd, seeing as how the keyboard was chest height with her. But when she looked at it, it seemed to be at head height with her! She realised that it seemed to be getting higher and larger, and it couldn't be getting bigger on its own… Samus looked down to find that the ground was moving towards her faster and faster, realising that she was shrinking! She walked around the room, her steps getting shorter and shorter as the room began to get large and wider than before as she reduced in size, her hairband falling to the ground as her hair shrank out of it, her hair falling onto her now half-sized body.

With the shrinking getting faster and faster, Samus tried to run over to the mirror, now a third of her normal size, looking like a very young girl with an adult's body as she shrank even further, moving slowly towards the mirror, and by the time she reached it, she was too small to even reach the bottom of the mirror. Samus gave up trying to see herself after a few jumps, and finally reached the size of a small doll, the shrinking stopping. Now at her tiny size, Samus wondered just how this could possibly useful, when she felt a familiar tingling sensation coming from her back.

She felt the material of her zero suit open up slightly as two gossamer thin butterfly wings erupted out, fluttering slightly as Samus felt a slight tearing sensation from the growth. Samus gave her wings a few experimental flaps, looking slightly more optimistic about the upgrade as she confirmed her thoughts about the name. Flying was something she enjoyed immensely in the other winged upgrades, and after a moment of flapping, she gained enough control of her wings to rise up, flittering quickly around the now huge to her room, all the space she wanted given to her in her tiny form, Samus allowing herself a minute to enjoy herself. After that minute, Samus stopped for a moment to see herself in the mirror, seeing only a glowing ball of blue light with wings, and looked down at herself to see her zero suit glowing brightly, flying towards the mirror to get a closer look at herself. At close range she looked normal, a tiny version of herself in her zero suit with wings, although glowing brightly enough to not appear that way to a casual onlooker.

"I'll have to remember to hold onto this one…" Samus said to herself, before going off to enjoy her flight some more.
